This week has been an exceptional week. The beginning of the week started off with a bang and the momentum continued through the week! Then, on Wednesday, I received a notice from Artsonia that one of my students was a Finalist for their Artist of the Week contest. So, I started to spread the word and come Sunday, my young artist won with 1,199 votes!! You can see her art on their site.

I have a collection of middle elementary projects to show off. First is the 3rd Grade Fauve Wild Beasts that are finally finished. This one in particular reminds me of cotton candy, and the young artist that created it commented that that was exactly what she was trying to do...and that's why she wanted to use the old marker.

Next up is the 4th grade Chi Waras. What I changed this year was how the students painted the background. In the past, we used the same colors to represent a sunset. However, this year I felt like it would work better if they used any colors they wanted for the sky, as long as it was just 3 analogous colors. I like the results much better than last year's. There's a lot more individuality in this approach.

The last artwork I'd love to share is the 2nd Grade pop-up houses. The outside of the paper is drawn to look like a house with as many details as they can draw. Then, the house is opened up and we draw family members, rooms, and finish it up with some pop-up hidden flaps and people.

That's it for this week! Here's hoping this week continues to climb up and up with success.
