I started a really complex printmaking unit with my Jr. High students. I introduced 3 forms of printmaking to them and had them work through each of the processes to develop prints about abstract and stylized faces. The three different forms of printmaking were reduction prints, collagraph prints, and monoprints. I think the neatest step in this project was watching the students use the carving tools and manning the old printing press.

And, so moving into the younger grades, I had a fun time drawing with Kindergarteners on how to draw themselves looking scared and spooked. Hair was spiked up, eyeballs were huge, and mouths wide open! I think the drawings turned out really fun. Check them out on the Artsonia site.

The first graders worked on mixing tints. Honestly, it's just great practice with learning how to take care of paintbrushes and mixing colors. I find it amazing how amazed the artists are when they can see their finished mixes.

Well, that's it. As you can see, it's busy in the art room. After all, we're all creating and innovating.
